Where's My Castle?

“Sergeant at Arms! Attend me!”

“Yes, Your Highness?”

“Where is Castle Dexter? It is supposed to be right here.”

“It’s gone, Your Highness.”

“I can see that! Where has it gone?”

“Over there, Your Highness.”

“What is it doing over there? That’s Valencia’s territory. Need I remind you that we are AT WAR with Valencia?”

“No Your Highness, no need to remind me. That’s why the castle was moved, Your Highness.”

“You understand do you not, Sergeant, that castles once built are STATIONARY! How did it get there?”

“I’m not privy to the mechanics of it, Your Highness. It may have been engineers, or an army of elephants. Perhaps a giant hand came down from the sky.”

“I do not appreciate the joke, Sergeant. Why is my castle over there?”

“There was a threat, Your Highness.”

“I know there was a threat; we are at war. That does not justify moving an entire castle. Why wasn’t this stopped? Where are my knights?”

“Protecting the castle, Your Highness. It’s in enemy territory.”

“Aaargh! Are any of my troops here?”

“The third and fourth platoons are here, Your Highness. And there is a senior official from the Church nearby.”

“None of which will avail you, King of Devon.”

“Who said that?”

“You don’t recognize the Queen of Valencia? You are trapped, Devon; there’s nowhere to run, and none of your forces are in position to defend you."

"Then it's...?"

"Yes. Checkmate.”

Devon tipped over his King, conceding defeat.

“You win this time, Val. Best two of three?”
